Meditation in trouble times? Yes, it’s hard, but vital

While meditation alone isn’t sufficient to help your body defend against viruses (cleansing is a critical factor as I discussed here). But, meditation in troubled times isn’t just helpful, it’s vital.

Since the outbreak of Covid-19, most of us have spent more time at home than we’ve ever thought possible. For some that means a lot of time in tight quarters with many family members. For others, it has meant a lot of isolation. For all of us, it has meant worry.

Change is difficult. It can cause tremendous stress, which compromises our immune system and leaves us more susceptible to illness. Now is the best time to make a conscious decision to build habits of health into your daily life.

Meditation is one of these critical habits.

Meditation to decrease stress

One of the best remedies for stress–a consistent practice of meditation–can be so much harder when our “normal” unexpectedly changes. At precisely the time we need a healthy meditation practice, it becomes harder than ever to do.

It’s my hope you’ll resist this slide and resolve to a consistent practice of meditation.

The health benefits of meditation are impressive. Thousands of scientific studies have shown the benefits include stress reduction, better sleep, lower blood pressure, decreased depression and anxiety, improved cardiovascular function, and strengthened immunity. And it doesn’t end there.
