The Latest in Scientific research… let’s put on our critical thinking caps

A new study out from the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom is stating that frequent nightmares may identify people who are at high risk of developing dementia in the future years or decades before the characteristic memory and thinking problems emerge. The author speculates that subtle neurodegeneration occurs over time in the right frontal lobe (area of the brain that helps to downregulate negative emotions whilst awake and also while dreaming). This could result in “depression and anxiety in the day and nightmares and bad dreams during the night”.

Interpretation:
Distressing dreams predict cognitive decline and all-cause dementia in middle-aged and older adults without cognitive impairment or PD – especially amongst men. These findings may help to identify individuals at risk of dementia and could facilitate early prevention strategies.

So, I ask you to put on your thinking caps! Ask yourself: what about these participants’ diet, lifestyle, stressors, chemical exposures, heavy metal load, and other toxic load from their food or environment. Were any of these things considered?

Dirty brains are a real issue that contain a large amount of poisons and toxins like toxic heavy metals, solvents, plastics, pharmaceuticals, air fresheners, scented candles and the list goes on…

When will science care to do some real research on these topics? Clean brains lead to better cognitive health and so much more. Better health needs to be a holistic approach.
